Sir Sam’s Sound System

Sir Sam’s Sound System plays reggae music so sweet, from the early sounds of the 60s to 70s roots reggae, from the 80s and 90´s dub business to the year 3000. Classics, rarities, and dubplate pressure, paying homage to the original Jamaican sound system culture, not forgetting that DIY attitude.

“My first reggae LP was ‘Long Shot’ by The Pioneers, released in 1969. That was maybe in 2004. I spent several years spinning mainly early reggae, ska, and rocksteady, and then I got interested in the more rootsy side of reggae and its conscious message. One thing led to another, and we formed Equal Share Sound System together with my friend, Selecta Arai. After many great sound system sessions, I decided to continue the journey and formed Sir Sam’s Sound System. The name is inspired by some classic pioneering sound systems like Sir Coxsone The Downbeat, Duke Reid, Count Shelly, and so on. Almost all the speaker boxes of my sound system are from the 80´s.”

The main goal is to play music that not only brings joy and happiness to people but also makes people aware of what’s going on around the world. The music that makes you think where we are coming from and where we are going. And of course, what´s the story and origin of that music played.  Past, present, future; all tied together in oneness.

Hopefully see you at Wibes Festival this year!
